The fact is that in the last ten years, in Europe, there has been a high increase of terror attacks and kidnapping. Listed below are a few items that have been selected from the news to shed light on the threats there are in Europe.

10 June 2011 - Dresden, Germany, two people injured when bomb explodes in IKEA store. A 32 year old woman and a 41 year old man where severely injured when a bomb that was planted in IKEA furniture store exploded. Police search for terrorist that planted the device.
31 May 2011 - IKEA stores in Gent, Belgium, Eindhoven, Netherlands, Lille, France, where subject to terrorist bombings in the last few days. All these outlets of IKEA attacked using timed explosions. Authorities call these “incidents” fearing telling the public that they are terrorist attacks.
28 May 2011 - Germany's government declares a major threat of possible terror attack in near future.
27 May 2011 - Embassy of Greece in Berlin, Germany attacked with stones and paint.
24 May 2011 - Central underground station in eastern side of Berlin, Germany, firebombed by elements of the far left extremists. This attack cause major disruption in public rail transportation, and politicians declare this as a terror attack.
23 May 2011 - Police officer at Cork Airport stabbed and attacker steals police vehicle. Attacker attempts to drive towards airline but vehicle breaks down, and attacker is caught. RTE article

29 April 2011 - Dusseldorf, Germany - German police arrest three suspected members of the AL-Qaida terrorist organization who officials say posed a "concrete and imminent danger" to the nation.U.S. officials called the target "localized" and related to "public transportation, trains or buses." Germany is currently under high alert for terrorist attack.
02 March 2011 - Frankfurt, Germany - Terrorist attack on U.S. Airmen. Two U.S. service members are shot and killed and two others wounded while boarding bus at Frankfurt airport. Terrorist is overpowered and taken into custody. Germany is now on highest alert in preparation for further attacks.
07 Jan 2011 - London - British transport authorities warn aviation officials that AL-Qaida is considering an attack against a U.K. airport or other airline industry targets. Threat is described as credible. France and Germany also increase security measures.
29 Dec 2010 - Danish and Swedish police arrest 5 people planning to attack Jyllands-Posten at its Copenhagen news desk with automatic weapons.
24 Dec 2010 - Rotterdam - 12 men of Somali origin, arrested on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks. (Newspaper article)

4 June 2010 - Germany - The wife of Thomas Boegerl, chief executive of the Sparkasse bank in the town of Heidenheim, was found murdered. Mrs Boegerl was kidnapped from her home on the morning of May 12. Mr Boegerl was contacted with a ransom demand of £250,000 in return for his wife's life, but the money was never picked up from drop point.
